Comedy capers in that wacky fun-land known as Syria, where a hilarious mix-up led to Al Qaeda-linked jihadists accidentally chopping off the head of one of their own men.
A video posted on the Internet on Wednesday allegedly showed two members of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant holding up a bearded man’s head before a crowd in Aleppo.
“Some minutes after the video was posted, the man was identified as Mohammed Marroush, a fighter with rebel group Ahrar al Sham,” said a UK-based watchdog. “[The Jihadists] later admitted the rebel had been killed by mistake and said it had arrested one of its men, a Tunisian, for decapitating him. He was referred to their Islamic court.”
It’s understood the footage is already a frontrunner to win the $1000 on offer for this year’s “Syria’s wackiest home video” competition.
