There is no doubt that humans have an affinity for cats. All you need to realise this is to visit the cat side of YouTube and wonder at the millions of views on a video of a cat grumpily staring into the lens.
However, the line should surely be drawn at big cats. Lions, tigers and other cats that can conduct reconstructive surgery on your face with one clean swipe are not to be played with. For one lady, it is not enough to be in close proximity to lions, she needs one in her home 24/7.
Annel Snyman and her lion Timba are roommates; you can now no longer complain about your sloppy, smelly housemates present, past or future. The South African explains that the big limbed guy loves nothing more than a snuggle on her sofa or to translate for the rest of us, protecting his future meal on a daily basis.
This whole situation came to pass as Snyman, a self-confessed animal lover, opened a farm on the land her parent’s own. Over time she expanded operations to large cats and the therapeutic benefits saw her eventually unable to part with them. There are no current reports on why her parent’s didn’t reel in her enthusiasm or their current whereabouts.
Snyman claims: “The neighbours are amazed by him and I often see them drive past and slowing down”.
Not necessarily a good thing when the neighbours stare but at least she has a positive outlook. Annel goes on to express that there has been some difficulty maintaining intimate relationships in the past as Timba becomes jealous for attention and delves into her boyfriend’s coffee or sweets. This is clearly a direct challenge to the boyfriend’s alpha male status.
Although, to her delight, she is currently in a relationship, probably long distance and Timba is fully accepting of it.
