It wasn’t the normal start to your day in Northampton recently, commuters making their way to work or parents taking their kids to school came across quite an odd but amusing figure in and around town. It wears odd clothes, wears too much makeup and would generally freak you out if you walked past it in the street. No I am not talking about Lady Gaga! I am in fact talking about a clown.
For some reason, this strange but elusive man, unknown to the community, first appeared on Friday the 13th (hopefully coincidenta l- as if you’re not scared enough already?) and has since frightened the living hell out of individuals who have coulrophobia – a fear of clowns.
This hilarious stunt has been making the public uneasy with police getting several reports of sightings these past few days, threats that he will be attacked if he continues, but for the majority creating a bit of gossip around Northampton and general entertainment to a town that sometimes needs it.
The mysterious clown has stepped forward to defend his decision on Twitter stating,
‘I don’t terrorise people I just want to be spotted. Too much hate not enough love.’
Clearly the lights are on but no one’s home but as the nights draw in and the weather gets chillier by the day, what’s the problem with a harmless joke that’s supposed to be a bit of fun?
