Claire Lennon, a pet owner from Berkshire unfortunately owns a chicken that has a particular liking for diamonds. Claire found this out when, whilst perched on her shoulder, Sarah the chicken gobbled up her diamond earring.
The problem now is due to the placement of the earring, which is lodged inside the chicken’s stomach, it is not just a case of wait a couple of days for it to fall out the other end. The vet claimed that the only option is surgery which would put the chicken’s life at risk. Claire states that her 6 year old daughter would be distraught if the chicken were to die. Therefore the only way Miss Lennon will retrieve her earring is when the chicken is no longer living. This could take up to 8 years. Now that’s a long time to wait for such a gift!
Due to how much the earring is worth, this incident has turned this quite ordinary chicken, into a £300 chicken. So if you are a fellow chicken owner yourself, we suggest you keep such chicken divas away from any jewellery that might be of any value, you can never be too careful!
