Thief returns stolen money – with interestThirty years ago a thief stole $800 from a western Michigan mini-mart, now the anonymous burglar felt it was important to repent for his bad deed by not only returning the money but also paying it back with interest.

The envelope that was stuffed with $100 bills, totaling in $1,200, was delivered to the Barry County Sheriff’s department with hopes that it would be returned to the store owner at the time of the crime.

A remorseful note was accompanying the cash, “I did a very bad thing that I am ashamed of and have lived with this guilt. I can’t begin to day how sorry I am but have lived with this guilt too long. If you do find him, please tell him that I was a foolish, stupid man when I did that and I am sorry.”

Guess the saying is true; it’s never too late to say you’re sorry. We have to admit though, if we’d done such a thing, we’d probably have just given back the $800. Fool!
