So if you ever heard of older people encouraging drinking alcohol in your town for a good reason, then I’d love to see how drunk their children are at midday because my mum and dad wouldn’t encourage me to binge drink at home anytime.
A row has broken out whether English towns should encourage Scottish drinkers to visit their towns on ‘booze runs’ to encourage spending and improve profits in towns. And no, this isn’t a Conservative idea, its Labour this time. Northumberland county council’s labour group said it was a ‘golden opportunity’ not to be missed, which has also been described as irresponsible.
Most people have reacted badly, with excuses such as travel costs costing just as much as alcohol and the conservatives hitting back saying tourists should be respectable, but I think putting Boris Johnson on a Booze Bus with a keg and a speaker would really get this idea going.
