UFC 306: O’Malley vs Dvalishvili

Last September, Noche UFC was an organic blockbuster — a celebration of Mexican and Latin American culture and competitors at T-Mobile Arena that carried a pay-per-view feel from the opening bout through the captivating championship main event.

This year, the UFC is upping the ante, bringing Noche UFC to Sphere in Las Vegas as a pay-per-view venture headlined by a pair of transfixing title bouts and supported by eight additional matchups that will turn this weekend’s one-of-a-kind event into a must-see spectacle from the outset.

Featuring the championship trilogy bout between Alexa Grasso and Valentina Shevchenko, and headlined by “Suga” Sean O’Malley putting the bantamweight title on the line against No. 1 contender Merab Dvalishvili, Saturday’s 10-fight event promises to be exhilarating every step of the way.

So let’s dive into the matchups that make up this weekend’s fight card.

Sean Strickland believes Israel Adesanya ‘isn’t that good’ — ‘I f*cked up Izzy when he lost to me’

At UFC 293 in September 2023. Since then, Strickland has fought twice, losing to Dricus Du Plessis before a rebound split decision over Paulo Costa. Adesanya, on the other hand, challenged the current champion, Du Plessis, at UFC 305 and once again came up short, this time via a fourth round face crank.

Ultimately, the first two-fight losing streak of Adesanya’s career (24-4) can be chalked up to a simple lack of talent, according to Strickland. (now that’s actually a crazy statement what do you guys think on the matter is Adenanya really untalented? or was it just some unlucky submissions? please leave a comment on your thoughts.)

‘Seven fights, including a mouth-watering trans-Tasman showdown, two heavyweight bangers, the return of a Victorian cult favourite and Toowoomba’s own Big Train have officially been added to UFC 305 in Perth on August 18.’

Sunday 18 Aug, Prelims Start 6:30am late Prelims 8am AWST, Main Event Kicks off at 10am AWST.

where to watch: From 8am at Crown Sports Bar. From 10am at The Merrywell

Adesanya (24-3 MMA, 13-3 UFC) will have the chance to become the first three-time champion in middleweight history when he challenges Du Plessis (21-2 MMA, 7-0 UFC) for the belt in the Aug headliner at RAC Arena in Perth, Australia.

“The Last Stylebender” turns 35 next week, and could be facing his final chance at a UFC belt if things don’t go his way. It’s a massive moment for Adesanya, and arguably the biggest rival of his career wants to see him find success and hold UFC gold once more.

Pereira (11-2 MMA, 8-1 UFC), who has fought Adesanya four times in combat sports – going 2-0 in kickboxing and 1-1 in MMA – wants to see him thrive against Du Plessis.

Mike Tyson nah nah (Mike Perry) Vs Jake Paul

Well it was to good to be true…

Jake Paul will face another fighter from the world of MMA.

Paul and Perry will compete in an eight-round cruiserweight bout at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida on the same day that Paul was previously scheduled to fight Mike Tyson. That bout was moved to November 15 due to a health issue for Tyson stemming from an ulcer.

Perry has been calling for a fight with Paul for quite some time and has been competing in bare-knuckle boxing since he left the UFC. Paul had voiced his eagerness to fight sooner than November and it came to fruition.

 Fight Postponement! (more like disappointment)

Meanwhile, the last time Tyson, 57, fought was in an exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr in 2020, scored as a draw.

However, Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions announced the postponement on Friday (31 May) saying that Tyson’s ulcer flare-up will prevent him from training properly in the lead up to the fight.

“Both Mike and Jake are in agreement that it is only fair to ensure that both athletes have equal training time to prepare for this important match and are able to compete at the highest level,” the statement read.

“The health and well-being of athletes is our top priority, and we fully support Mike in taking the necessary time to allow him to perform at the level he expects of himself.”

UFC Legend Chael Sonnen Accuses Mike Tyson of Faking Workout Video for Jake Paul Fight

Mike Tyson comes clean of what happened after that recent 30-second training video | Marca

Mike Tyson Vs Jake Paul. Former UFC middleweight contender Chael Sonnen took to social media Wednesday to take a shot at former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson to accuse him of faking a recent training video to promote his upcoming boxing match against Jake Paul.

To promote the bout, the 57-year-old Tyson posted a video on X (formerly Twitter) of him hitting the mitts with a caption reading, “It’s Day 1 … the fun has just begun.”

But Sonnen isn’t buying it. He accused the boxing legend of faking the workout.

“In the future, if you’re ever going to spend five seconds hitting mitts, as a way of making the audience believe you’re doing a training session, make sure you splash water on your face and T-shirt first,” Sonnen wrote on X. Sonnen noticed Tyson wasn’t sweating at all in the video, so he took that to mean the video wasn’t genuine.

Nevertheless, the boxing legend will face Paul on July 20 in Arlington, Texas, with the bout scheduled to be televised on Netflix.

American former undisputed Heavyweight World Champion VS Internet celebrity and ‘professional boxer’

Article by Ruby Shakir

Mike Tyson reentering the scene in bizarre Heavyweight professional boxing match against American YouTuber Jake Paul.

This is sure to be an unforgettable fight to say the least. Jake Paul (9-1, 6 kOs) has stated he wants to focus on fighting real boxers to eventually compete for a world title. But for now he aims to fight long retired Mike Tyson (56-6, 44 KOs), a former heavyweight champion and one of the best boxers in history. The match is set to take place on the July 20th making it so Tyson will be 58 and Paul being a mere 27 years old.

As I assume many people are thinking this has to be a joke there is no way in reality Jake Paul is seriously fighting Mike Tyson, but its happening and people don’t seem to doubtful about the out comes. I personally have a feeling the YouTuber is using this as clout and publicity, then again he has done a 180 career change and seems pretty serious about this fight.

“Its crazy to think that in my second pro fight i went viral for knocking out Nate Robinson on Mike Tyson undercard,” Paul said in a statment. “now less then 4 years later, i’m stepping up to face Tyson my self to see if i have what it takes to beat one of boxing’s most notorious fighters and biggest icons. Within just two and a half years of founding MVP, we’re about to produce the biggest fight in history, a fight in the biggest NFL stadium in the US, broadcast live, on the biggest streaming platform in the world — a testament to all we’ve accomplished in such a short amount of time.”

‘Mike Tyson has already predicted the exact outcome of his showdown with Jake Paul, two years before it was signed’

“It will be so f**king easy,” Tyson replied when asked how a fight would play out two years ago.

“Jake’s punches you can see coming from a mile away, you can see that coming a mile away. I’m 5’5, I can see that coming a mile away,” Tyson added. “I would beat these f***ers [Jake and Logan Paul]. I’d go straight at them, there would be no boxing.

“The only thing I got to do is be in shape. 30 days of boxing training every day and I can fight anyone.
“If I’m boxing every day I wouldn’t even have to worry about diet.”
The fight will likely be able to be stopped by the referee, but it is unclear if the clash will be scored by judges.
