He may have been knocked out in the quarter-finals of the World Pool Masters but Japan’s Naoyuki Oi has been crowned the undisputed champions of bat-shit crazy post-match interviews following his displays in Gibraltar last month.
After booking his place in the last eight, Oi ranted: “My name is Naoyuki Oi. Today I am very, very lucky. Congratulations me! Yay!”
The unintelligible pocket rocket ignored the questions posed by Sky Sports’ Tony Wrighton and answered with whatever words sprung to his mind first. “I have a pear. I have an apple,” he replied at one stage.
Sadly, Oi was knocked out of the tournament the next night. When Wrighton asked how he was feeling, the Japanese ace said: “Excuse me. Can I speak English? You? Me? No English. No problem. Every time. Happy!”
Oddly, he still speaks better English than most Premier League players.
