When Ireland captain Seamus Coleman had his leg broken in a cynical tackle by Neil Taylor during last month’s World Cup qualifier, it didn’t take long for mad Irishmen everywhere to vent their anger online at the Welshmen, with a torrent abusive tweets flooding his Twitter account.
The only problem is, they were directed at the wrong Neil Taylor – so a former Liberal Democrat councillor with the same name was somewhat bemused to wake up the following morning to discover scores of expletive-ridden hate-tweets telling him he should be ashamed.
In bid to stop the barrage of abuse, Taylor responded with his own tweet: “1: I do not play football. 2: I dont even like football. 3: I was in a school footie team aged about 6 (we lost every game).”
Still, if he’s a politician, he probably deserves all the abuse he gets.
