Controversy over car designs, Lewis Hamilton pictured with a hot bird, Bernie Ecclestone making up crazy rules as he goes along – it can only mean one thing: the start of the new formula one season.
The Australian Grand Prix kicks off the whole shebang on March 16th and, it looks and feels the same as every other season. In fact, they should probably declare Sebastian Vettel as champion now to save commentators and reporters from the pain of trying to inject some excitement into one of the most boring and predictable title races on earth (with the possible exception of the Scottish Premier League).
But there is one significant difference this year – and it’s not Ecclestone’s bonkers “whoever wins the last race wins the whole thing” idea. The big difference is Mark Webber is no longer with us, so we don’t have anyone willing to stick it to Vettel. Instead, Daniel Ricciardo has stepped into the role of Vettel’s Australian bitch at Red Bull, and he says he’s already learning from his new team partner. And by “learning”, we assume he means knowing when to let Vettel pass him and how to bend over so the reigning champion can celebrate each victory with some celebratory sodomy.
“I’ll pick things up naturally from him and learn the ins and outs of how he works,” Ricciardo said while rubbing his arse and wincing. “Obviously he’s not going to tell me how to drive around a corner – we’re all capable of that now. But being behind the scenes with him is already good for me.”
Ricciardo refused to make a prediction on how often he could beat Vettel this season – possibly because it depends on how generous Vettel is feeling after he’s wrapped up the championship with eight races to spare.
“I haven’t fixed a number, saying 50:50 or beat him X amount of times,” Ricciardo said while Vettel stubbed a cigarette out on his cheek. “I won’t say I’ll come out and beat him – because until I do that, I don’t want to say anything. But of course I’d love to.”
