The news we’ve all been waiting for, The Lions squad has today been announced ahead of their tour later this year. Shock has come as Dylan Hartley has not been included in the British and Irish Lions squad for the summer tour to Australia and New Zealand, which makes Hartley the third England Captain to miss out on the privilege.
Warren Gatland, Head Coach has hand picked a 41 man squad for the 10 fixtures that will culminate in a three-Test series against Southern Hemisphere heavyweights, New Zealand. The squad includes surprise call-ups for Jared Payne, Ireland and Jack Nowell, England as well as Wales’ Ross Moriarty.
There is also no place this year for Jamie Roberts, however Jonathan Joseph has made the cut as a centre.
Wing D will come in the forms of Tommy Seymour and full back Stuart Hogg with the remainder of the squad haling from Wales and Ireland.
