Cult golfer Andrew “Beef” Johnston has finally become a big cheese in the sport after booking his place in next season’s PGA Tour – on National Cheeseburger Day.
The burger-loving Londoner finished fourth at the Albertsons Boise Open in Idaho – the second of four Web.com Tour Finals events – to guarantee a top-25 finish in the rankings.
The new PGA Tour season starts at the Safeway Open this month, where Tiger Woods will make his long-awaited return.
Asked how he would celebrate winning his American card, Johnston said: “With a few sodas! Yeah, I think there will be a Coke or a Fanta or something like that. Nah, there’s going to be a few beers, man!”
The world No 74 won his first European Tour event at the Spanish Open earlier this year and promised “to get hammered”. We’re sensing a theme here.
