Tomorrowland’s CORE Stage Set for Melbourne in 2026

Global dance music brand Tomorrowland has confirmed it will not bring its full-scale festival to Melbourne in 2026. Instead, the city is set to host an edition of CORE, Tomorrowland’s immersive, jungle-themed stage experience focused on underground house and techno.

The news follows widespread speculation after a map displayed at Tomorrowland Belgium 2025 listed “Melbourne – November 2026” alongside other global cities. However, organisers have clarified that while Australia is being considered for a CORE event, “there will be no Tomorrowland festival in Australia.”

If confirmed, Melbourne would join a select list of cities to host the travelling CORE experience, which has previously appeared in Tulum, Medellín, and Los Angeles. Full event details and ticket information are expected to be released later this year.

Salt‑N‑Pepa: “We Had to Sue Them”

Legal Showdown with UMG over Master Recordings

NEW YORK – August 4, 2025
Legendary hip‑hop duo Salt‑N‑Pepa—Cheryl “Salt” James and Sandra “Pepa” Denton—has taken Universal Music Group (UMG) to court in a high-profile lawsuit aimed at reclaiming ownership of their master recordings, including iconic hits like Push It, Shoop, and Let’s Talk About Sex.

During an interview on Good Morning America, James explained: “We have done all the things legally to get our copyrights back, but they’re just refusing. So, we had to sue them.”
She added: “To be held to a contract from 1985, 40 years later, it’s, like, ridiculous.”

Legal Ground & UMG’s Response: The lawsuit centers on Section 203 of the U.S. Copyright Act, which permits artists to terminate copyright agreements and reclaim their masters 35 years after release. Salt‑N‑Pepa served formal notices in 2022

The case heads to federal court in New York, where a judge will decide whether Salt‑N‑Pepa can legally enforce termination rights given the circumstances. The decision may impact many similar disputes between legacy artists and labels.
