Euro 2012 FinalSo here we are, the FINAL of Euro 2012 has been played and it signals the end of the tournament, Mario Balotelli’s antics and the ongoing saga of Cristiano Ronaldo hairstyles. But tonight it was the case of the Silver Surfer as the little Spaniard David Silva ran the show for Spain as they claimed a record three major tournaments in a row with a 4-0 romp over a tiring Italy.

The win breaks the record of the most goals scored in a European championship final, and it all started with the Silver Surfer himself, heading in a cross from Cesc Fabregas after a lovely flowing move. New Barcelona left back Jordi Alba doubled the lead with a neat finish after a fantastic pass from Xavi. The Italians were down to ten men after Thiago Motta, their final substitute, went off injured so had to enjoy the torture of the Spanish, and Fernando Torres scored a 3rd to end their misery with a slick finish. But it was Juan Mata who finished off the Italians with what was his first kick of the tournament as this was his first appearance in the Euros.

So the Spanish deservedly lift the crown to show their “boring” critics how it is done, and the Euro 2012 competition has been nothing short of brilliant. So we will say goodbye to a major tournament for another two years when England are hyped up again, the Italians match fix again and Cristiano Ronaldo might have gone bald! So we will see you in Brazil 2014 Sepp Blatter, you dick!
