He’s the Welsh rugby player who’s so Welsh they named him after another Welsh rugby player – but the actions of Gareth Davies at a nightclub last month weren’t exactly in keeping with the image of a Welsh Six Nations hero.
Davies was caught on camera decking two bouncers and chasing one with his own shoe after the scrum-half got into a scrap at a nightclub in Aberystwyth. It’s the biggest rugby player-nightclub scandal in Wales since Charlotte Church gave Gavin Henson a blowie in the toilets.
“I would like to apologise for the incident that took place,” grovelled Davies, shortly after the side’s loss to England in the Six Nations. “I reacted wrongly to the situation and have learnt from it and understand that I have a responsibility to the game at all times.”
Quite right Gareth, Tom Jones and Shirley Bassey must be turning in their graves. If they were dead of course.
