Bonkers Turkish manager Hamit Isik has already been banned from stadiums for arguing with a referee this season, but his habit of looking down on match officials hit new heights last month when he hired a cherry picker to get a birds-eye view of his team’s game from a nearby road.
The Corum Beledivespor coach was hit with a 285-day (that’s nine-and-a-half months) stadium ban by the country’s Professional Football Disciplinary Board when he angrily confronted a referee.
It meant he would not be able to oversee the opening leg of a crucial third division play-off fixture with Darcia Genclerbirligi – so the cunning nutjob had to improvise.
Instead of watching the game from the comfort of his home or a hotel room, sneaky Isik did the next best thing and rented a cherry picker. Considering it was a 0-0 draw, it sounds like he must have parked the bus as well as hired a crane.
