Barcelona president, Sandro Rosell, has waved his fists, stamped his little feet (we imagine) and demanded that UEFA do what he wants, or they risk Europe’s top clubs breaking away to form their own league.
Rosell, claiming to speak for many top clubs, wants less international fixtures on the calendar and Champions League games to be played at weekends; he also wants a bigger Champions League overall, and says he’d like it to be under the UEFA banner, but if they are not willing to do what he wants, then he will just take his ball home and start his own game.
Barcelona see themselves as representing the purity and romanticism of football – but for all their beauty on the pitch, they’re not above having arseholes in the boardroom.
