Drafting A New System

For anyone from UK and Ireland, the “draft system” is something to do with central heating and double glazing rather than sport. But in the land Down Under, it’s a unique system they’ve come up with for Aussie rules which is designed to spread young talent evenly between the clubs.
And when we say “unique system” we mean “stolen wholesale from the Yanks”. It’s also a shitter system than the Yanks’ as most of the No.1 picks in AFL end up as journeymen rather than star recruits. Anyway, this year’s national draft is being held on the Gold Coast on Thursday 27th November, when we will get a glimpse of the game’s future stars and sex offenders of tomorrow.
